When Clay Pearcy entered the teaching profession and started coaching football, it was no surprise to anyone familiar with the Pearcy family. 

“Both my parents were in education. My mom was an elementary teacher/middle school Principal. My dad was the head football coach at Maud High School for 25 years, he is in the Oklahoma Coach’s Hall of Fame. I have always been involved in sports, so I knew I wanted to be a football coach,” said Pearcy. 

Today coach Pearcy teaches Algebra I at Moore High School and is the head coach of the freshman team. Coach Pearcy is at home on the field and embraces the responsibility of being a head coach. 

“I really don’t think it’s a challenge, the big thing is getting to know the players and what position best suite them to play in our scheme,” Pearcy said. 

He gets the most enjoyment from watching his players develop and succeed on the field and in life. 

“Just being around the players and watching them develop as a player and a young man

I have been around football my entire life as far as I can remember. I remember watching video with my dad on an old 8mm. I have always enjoyed the scheme of football and it being a physical sport,” said Pearcy. 

As for his staff, Pearcy said it takes more than one coach to get the job done. 

“Coach Aaron Roberson who has been coaching for several years and Mike Swart the ‘do it all guy.’ I am very fortunate to have to have both guys on a freshman staff,” said Pearcy. 

Away from school and sports, Pearcy said he and his family love being on the family ranch. 

“I spend my free time with my kids and at our ranch. I am fortunate to have a family ranch in Macomb, Oklahoma that I run several head of registered black angus cattle on,” said Pearcy.
