Moore’s Jackson Tait
Moore High School senior Jackson Tait carries the responsibility that comes with playing No. 1 singles, but he embraces it as both a challenge and a point of pride. For Tait, varsity tennis is about more than individual wins. It is about leadership, consistency and representing Moore at the highest level. “What makes representing Moore special to me is the honor I have in representing Moore at the top spot,” Tait said. “I am able to play every other teams’ best player, and I love being able to show everyone what makes Moore great.”
That mindset has helped define Tait’s approach on the court. He said the strength of his game is “my consistency and mentality because I am really good at maintaining a positive attitude.” In a sport that can shift from one point to the next, he knows the mental side often decides the outcome as much as any forehand or serve. “The toughest part about playing tennis is not getting down on yourself,” Tait said. “It’s easy to spiral once you lose a point and it’s important to just take the match one point at a time.”
Tait said the support around him at Moore makes those demands easier to handle. Even in an individual sport, he values the bond he shares with his teammates and the sense of belonging that comes with being part of the Lions program. “The thing I love most about my team and teammates is how were a big family,” Tait said. “Were all really close with each other which allows us to joke around sometimes and have a lot more fun.”
Off the court, Tait has built an impressive resume. He is the National Honor Society president, Link Crew Leadership finance head chair, a Student Council senator, and a member of Moore Love and Key Club. He also has ambitious plans for the future: earning a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Oklahoma, pursuing a master’s degree at MIT and one day working at NASA.
