DEFENSE
The goal of the defense this season is to cause problems for the opponent by making them do things that they are not comfortable with. That disruption will start on the defensive line, where Tyler Lorenzen (6-3, 220, Sr.), Phillip Benjamin (6-0, 220, Sr.), and Jaylin Pounds (6-0, 235, Jr.) will be playing. The trio has put in a lot of offseason work and is ready to wreak havoc on the opposing offense. In the secondary, Saxon Scantlin (5-10, 185, Sr.) and Brayden Clark (5-10, 155, Jr.) are ready to lock down the other team’s receivers. Clark had a big season a year ago, with six interceptions and one returned for a touchdown. Jacob Leger (6-0, 220, Sr.) returns to the linebacker position and will be ready to cover the middle of the field or attack the quarterback, whatever he is called to do. Overall the Lion defense has the nucleus of a group that can develop into a solid unit. If a few younger players step up and mature into roles at the varsity level, Moore could become one of the surprise teams in the class.
