Maddox Gammel embraces responsibilities that extend well beyond the offensive line for Moore High School’s varsity football team.
A junior, Gammel helps anchor the Lions’ front while also balancing baseball, school leadership and the relationships that have shaped his high school experience. He plays first base for the baseball team and was elected junior class president for the upcoming school year, an accomplishment he values deeply.
“I am most proud of being the Junior class president for this upcoming school year,” Gammel said.
Gammel credits several people for encouraging him through the years. His fifth-grade teachers, Mrs. Deboard, Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Bartlett have remained supportive of his academic and extracurricular pursuits since elementary school.
He also points to Gracen Gruver, a senior during Gammel’s freshman year, as an important mentor. Gruver helped him learn the technical details necessary to succeed on the offensive line, including the footwork that is essential in the trenches.
“Gracen Gruver was a senior my freshman year that took me under his wing and taught me all the techniques and footwork that I would need for my upcoming high school years,” Gammel said.
Faith is another important foundation in Gammel’s life. He said Jesus Christ provides both inspiration and direction as he works to become a better athlete, student and person.
“Jesus Christ inspires me because he is my Savior and I thrive to live more like him every day,” Gammel said.
Gammel is equally grateful for the people in his corner, from his parents and relatives to teammates, church members and others he considers family.
“I would like to thank my parents for everything that they have sacrificed for me and all of my family that has supported me along the way including my sports families, church family, and all my other family that I’m not related to by blood but love and care for like a family member,” Gammel said.
