Golf is a game of concentration and focus. When you are on the golf course you are surrounded by nature and its beauty, but you also know that if you are not prepared, the course can really hurt your score. Olivia Lee is a golfer for Moore High School, and she knows what it takes in order to be successful when she is out on the course.
“It takes a lot of practice and a strong mindset in order to be your best,” she stated. “I enjoy competing against other schools so I can see the tactics of their golf game. I also enjoy practicing with my sister Kaitlyn, and my best friend Ava. We are very competitive when we practice together and playing against other good players allows me to see how to improve my game.”
Since she loves the game of golf, it is no surprise that two of Lee’s favorite people to follow on social media are golfers that she looks up to.
“I enjoy following Tiger Woods and Collin Morikawa,” she stated. “I enjoy following Tiger because he is one of the best players and it’s inspiring to see him come back from a major injury. Morikawa because he’s a great young golfer and I’ve learned many things from his game.”
Moore girls’ golf head coach, Ryan Dukes, is excited about Olivia and thinks she will be able to make an impact during her first varsity season.
“Olivia is another talented freshman,” he said. “She has a beautiful swing and I see her making a big contribution to the team this season.”
Olivia enjoys any moment she can out on the golf course but says that she has had a few memorable times throughout her career.
“My favorite moment would have to be making my first birdie at Meadowlake Golf Course in Enid”, she said. “Also, playing at Atlantic Dunes Golf Course in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and finally shooting my lowest tournament score.”
Along with sports, Lee is also going to be serving as sophomore class president as well as joining leadership and Moore Love.
