Moore’s Ansely Scott – Track Spotlight – Presented by Landers Auto Group

By Derrick Smith

Throughout the career of a student-athlete, there can be many people that influence their life. It could be anyone from a professional athlete to a family member, but the impact that they make can be huge. Ansley Scott says that there are a couple of people that have been big assets for her during her career.

“My parents have been the biggest influence on my life,” she said. “They always encourage me and support me in whatever I do. They never fail to be there when I need them.”

Scott is a senior at Moore High School, where she is a member of the track and field team. She began on the track team when she was in the seventh grade and she currently participates in the open 400m, 4×8 relay, 4×4 relay, and 4×2 relay.

While she enjoys being a part of the track team, Ansley says that it has not been easy to become the athlete she is today.

“It has taken a lot of hard work to get here,” she said. “Especially, having to come back after not have a season last year due to the pandemic.”

Scott has had some great experiences during her track career, but she says that there is one moment where she was able to overcome an obstacle and still be successful. She says that is the best moment so far.

“The highlight of my career would have to be when I qualified for state,” she said. “Alone, that was awesome, but the fact that I was coming off of a broken ankle made it that much more special.”

Ansley has learned from a lot of teachers during her educational career. While she enjoyed a lot of them, she says that there is one that really made learning fun.

“My favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Robins,” she said. “My friends and I had so much fun in her class while we learned how to cook.”

Outside of athletics, Ansley is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Scott wants her teammates to know how much she has enjoyed her time on the team. “I love my track team because we are like a family,” she said. “I am so glad that I got to be a part of this team throughout my career.”
