Erica Frass, a Moore High School senior, pursues several passions. A talented distance runner, Frass is a standout on both Moore’s cross country and track teams.
“When I’m stressed or worried about something, I’ll usually go out and run, which really helps most of the time,” Frass said. “My favorite runs are definitely long-distance runs, because I love to talk to my friends while running.”
She’s also participating in an internship at a veterinary hospital. She often volunteers at local animal welfare events and recently became a Certified Veterinary Assistant through Moore-Norman Technology Center.
“I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian ever since I was little! It’s one of my biggest goals in life,” Frass said. “I’ve always had pets growing up and been a huge animal lover.”
Frass has enjoyed the opportunities and accomplishments afforded to her through running, but all else pales in comparison to her relationships with her teammates.
“They really are like a family to me, and I’ve developed amazing friendships through the sport,” Frass said. “Getting to run out of state at Missouri with some of my best friends was such a fun experience. The feeling of working hard all season and having a huge personal record is one of the most rewarding feelings for me. I love comparing where I started out at the beginning of the season to where I am at the end, because that’s when I truly notice those time differences.”
Frass is also a standout student. She is a member of National Honor Society and takes several concurrent classes. As she strives towards her career in the veterinary business, Frass could see herself continuing her athletic career past high school.
“I would really love the opportunity to run at the college level to challenge myself and continue doing the sport I love,” Frass said.
