Coach: RACHAEL SIMMONS
21-12
OUTLOOK
The Lions are expecting a successful 2024.
“We have started the preseason off strong and motivated, going 16-0 in the Claremore Super Scrimmage and Southmoore Scrimmage combined,” Lions head coach Rachael Simmons said. “We have nine seniors this year with superior leadership skills. They are bought in to the process and ready to fight to make history again in their final season as a Lion.”
Simmons believe Addie Worley (OH, Sr.), the school’s all-time leader in career and single season kills, is a strong candidate to win conference player of the year.
“Physically she is dominant,” Simmons said. “Addie is looking to break more records this season as she is close to the all-time digs record. She has become a motivator and leader for her team, now this season more than ever.”
An exciting newcomer, Jaely Bell (OPP, So.) looks to make a statement in her debut.
“Jaely is a 6-0 right-side with a massive block,” Simmons said. “As the youngest player on the team, she doesn’t seem like it as she brings power and stability to her side of the court.”
Leah Campbell (DS, Sr.) is a seasoned veteran whose leadership will be instrumental to Moore’s success. “Leah has risen as the heart of our team. There is never a moment we don’t feel her positive energy and presence even when she is off the court,” Simmons said. “She keeps the team focused and on the right path. She is not always recognized physically, but she is our X factor.”
While Campbell brings the energy, Kristen Straughn (S, Jr.) sets the team’s standard in positive leadership. “Kristen is the most humble, kind, and generous young woman. There is never a negative word that comes out of her mouth, which is what makes her such an important part of the team,” Simmons said.
Other players to watch include Abbie Shaw (OH, Sr.), Jacelyn Thomas (MB, Sr.), Karlee Siegfried (OH, Sr.), Kristelle Nappa (OH, Sr.), Lauryn Weber (L, Sr.), Maddie Mastalir (OPP, Sr.), Mia Benson (MB, Sr.), and Lyric Howell (DS, Jr.).
