Moore High School senior Brooklyn Haywood has played an important role in the overall success of the Lady Lions basketball program under head coach Brent Hodges.
We wanted to learn more about this senior and what she has enjoyed most about her high school experience.
VYPE: Brooklyn, what will you remember most about your time in high school?
Haywood: I’ll remember my friends the most. I built many bonds with so many different people over the years and making memories with them will have to be my favorite.
VYPE: What is the first thing you will do after you graduate?
Haywood: The first thing I’d do is celebrate! Many years of studying and different obstacles in life and to feel completed of one the biggest journeys, then to start my next one in college to become a nurse (RN).
VYPE: Through the years, have you had a favorite teacher?
Haywood: Mrs. Matthews would have to be my favorite teacher/mentor. I came to Moore High the start of my junior year and she was there every step of the way. Other than her being a great teacher and helping me in class, she’s also part of the basketball coaching staff and taught me so many things on and off the court! truly a blessing to have a good mentor all around in my life.
VYPE: What is your message to the underclassmen at Moore High School?
Haywood: I would tell the underclassmen to not take anything for granted. High school really goes by super-fast, and just try your best to soak all the little things in before the real world hits. High school is where you learn a lot about yourself and other things in life.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish?
Haywood: Really want say thank you to the Moore high staff and my coaches. Coming in as a new student my junior year of high school was really rough, and I was honestly scared, but they welcomed me with open arms and treated me like I’ve always been a part of the Lion family.
