It is up to an athlete to decide how good they want to be in their sport. They have to make the decision how much time and work they are going to put in to better themselves. Their parents, coaches, and friends cannot do that for them, only the athlete can.

Brandon Girard says that even though it can get tough, you still have to be willing to give it your all.

“It has taken a lot of dedication to be successful in both of my sports,” he said. “There have been times where I didn’t want to play any sports because of how hard and stressful it can be sometimes. But as an athlete, you push through it and that competitive nature puts you back on top.”

Girard, a senior at Moore High School, is a member of the Lions football and baseball teams. He plays slot receiver on the gridiron, while on the baseball diamond, you will find him out in centerfield.

There are different people that Brandon looks up to, but he says that there is only one person that can control how good of an athlete he is.

“Honestly, I look up to myself,” he explained. “ I have good days and I have bad days. But by looking up to myself, I appreciate the good that I have done and I correct the bad that I do. I strive to be a better version of myself one day at a time.”

In the classroom at Moore, Girard says his favorite teacher is also one of his football coaches.

“Coach Walker is our special teams and linebackers coach,” he said. “He was also my chemistry teacher last year. He taught me more than just chemistry. He also taught me the importance of maturity and family.”
