When head coach Landon Adamo was preparing for the season, he knew his roster would feature several swimmers who stepped up, faced tough challenges and responded in a big way. With more time in the pool and weight room, the swim team continues to make big strides.
“The Lions have been setting many personal records this year and have improved technique wise. While fighting for pool space at the school and community level, our swimmers have demonstrated high potential for success in and out of the water. We have many that have achieved great success academically and at the USA Swimming level. With the addition of new equipment this year such as paddles, parachutes, and time for practices, the Lions vision of growing and improving is drawing closer,” coach Adamo said. “We are beginning to build many bridges with the community as we now have a connection with a local YMCA swim team that we can rely on for younger incoming Lions in the near future. Establishing a foundation and growing community outreaches is the main goal for our Lions.”
Swimmers like Elena Phan (Sr.) is a distance swimmer and a leader in and out of the water. A four-year starter, Phan is on track to make the state swim meet and compete in multiple disciplines.
Maddox McHenry (So.) is a young swimmer making a splash this season. His improvements are measurable as McHenry continues to set new personal bests in the pool.
“Maddox has worked endlessly all summer and throughout the season by joining the Earlywine YMCA Swim Team and competing through both club and high school. Maddox is set as our A relay anchor on both the medley and 200 free relay. His drive and enthusiasm for achieving better times and encouraging teammates is the best of his interest,” said coach Adamo.
Also look for Trenton Williams (Jr.) to contribute as well. Overcoming challenges and sticking to the program has placed Williams in a position to bring real leadership to the team.
“Trenton shows up every day with a positive attitude and is encouraging to all of his teammates regardless of their experiences or performance,” said coach Adamo.
The Moore roster includes Elena Phan (Sr.), Arabella Waters (Sr.), Emily Thaxton (Sr.), Brayden Thresher (Sr.), Christian Davis (Jr.), Alex Pershall (Jr.), Samantha Davidson (Jr.), Aubrie Wright (Jr.), Trenton Williams (Jr.), Ian Estes (So.), Myriah Kalkbrenner (So.), Maddox McHenry (So.), Jack Witte (So.), Mackenzie Williams (So.), Phoenix Knowles (Fr.), Rebecca Like (Fr.), and Gardenia Little (Fr.).
