VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?
Jake: My goal for the team is to make it to the playoffs. My personal goal was to bring the team closer together, in practice, during school, and outside of MHS. A team of individually really good players is good, but a team of friends that compete with one another is great. And that’s the type of team atmosphere I want to create.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Jake: A lot of the soccer players went to every MHS sporting event we could make. It was great team bonding but also reminded us that we don’t only play soccer for each other. We play for Moore High school. We would get super hype for sports we didn’t have the slightest clue what was going on, it was a blast.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?
Jake: Coach K, my speech and debate coach. His program changed my life in so many ways and I will never be able to thank him enough. My ability to manage sports, extracurriculars, and school is all thanks to the skills I learned in his program.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Jake: Degan jones scoring against Choctaw and doing the dumbest goal celebration dance ever, he dubbed it the DJ. And it was bad…really bad.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Jake: Ivan Cardenas. He was always a very confident defender was someone who I looked up to. I learned a lot playing alongside him freshman year.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Jake: Avery definitely has the best coach Spellman impression. Degan is hands down the funniest.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Jake: Me and the team are going to Brazil.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Jake: new warmups for the team.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Jake: I want to thank my teammates and coaching staff for making my last year of high school soccer special. And my parents for showing up to all of my games and constantly supporting me.
