VYPE: How did you get into wrestling?

Topher Garrett: My dad got me into wrestling when I was eight years old and I loved it as soon as I started.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year? How is it going?

TG: I want to place at state this year and All-American at Fargo. I think it’s going well. I can beat the best guys when my mind is right and I come to wrestle.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

TG: Anytime the whole team is staying in a hotel is always a lot of fun. Great memories every time.

VYPE: Along with wrestling, what other activities or sports are you involved in?

TG: I play around with jiu jitsu in the off season and like lifting weights.

VYPE: Which teammate has left the biggest impression on you? Why?

TG: Payton Thomas has definitely been the teammate who has affected me the most, from taking me to extra practices with him to traveling the country wrestling together.

VYPE: How have you used sport to impact your school and/or community?

TG: Wrestling helps a lot with school because they basically say ‘If you don’t do good in school, you can’t wrestle.’ I think overall it makes you a better person everywhere in life

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher and why?

TG: My fifth-grade teacher, Mr. Lawrence, was super great from the way he taught to how he treated us.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go and who do you take with you?

TG: Hawaii, hands down. It’s beautiful. I’d take my Dad, Mom and sister.
